The economy is showing signs of improvement. Home sale and price have been going up and people are finding jobs again. There is a surge in support for Obama in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Even in Romney's home state of Michigan, Obama is ahead and things are looking good in N. Carolina, W. Virginia, Wisconsin and even Las Vegas and Colorado. Signs are that the Hispanic votes are at a all time high for Obama, no doubt helped by his position on amnesty for children of illegals. Students are beginning to see the usefulness of his loan program ( unlike Romney's advice to borrow from their parents ), and being placed on their parents insurance until age of 25. The Romney/Ryan attempt to scare people about "Obamacare" is not working, as more and more details are becoming known. The auto bail-out has saved and created jobs and the jobs figure on the whole is showing signs of improvement. People are feeling more confident and this has taken Romney's main weapon away. It's no longer "the economy stupid".
Pres.Obama's approach of economic and diplomatic sanctions against Iran is working. Even the Israeli Foreign Ministry has noted that this is so ( while Netanyahu is drawing "red line" at the United Nations). The production of oil is down more than 50%; revenues from sale are down by over $40 billion and limits placed on access to foreign reserves, mean that Iranian banks are limited and food prices are soaring, especially for bread, meat and electricity. It is only a matter of time that the "Iranian streets" are filled with protests against the government and its nuclear policy (we may be seeing 1979 revisited, but this time by an "Iranian Spring"). Netanyahu tried to use the American election to force Obama's hand but Obama showed strength of character and did not cave in the face of this blatant attempt to use Jewish voters to rattle him.
Obama was able to blunt Romney's attempt to show him as unwilling to stand up to China, when he blocked a Chinese company from owning four wind farms in northern Oregon, on the grounds that it may affect national security (the military flies unmanned drones and electronic-warfare planes from the Naval Weapons Systems Training Facility in nearby Boardman, Oregon). It is the first time in 22 years that a president has blocked such a foreign business deal. ( compare this to Canada where the takover of Nexen by Chinese-government owned CNOOC for $15.1 will be the biggest-ever foreign takeover and give China access to the biggest proven reserves of energy outside Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, (certainly a national security issue), is about to be approved by the Harper government).
On the domestic front, things are improving and in foreign policy the President's policies are working. Certainly not good for Romney. Where does this leave him? In shambles.
