     Petraeus has now taken over and hopes to bring his Iraqi tatics to Afghaniatan. In Iraq the surge was complimented with millions of dollars of bribes to Sunni tribal chiefs, not to continue with their insurgency. It worked and so the Americans have begun their drawdown . The Americans will not leave Iraq, they will gradually reduce their combat role, but they are in Iraq for the forseeable future. They have built forts in various parts to protect their oil interests and to ensure that no unfriendly government take over. More than 50,000 American soldiers will remain in Iraq. They will allow other countries to have access to Iraq's oil, especially China. The reason is simple. The more China invests in Irqa's resources, the more they will work to ensure a steady flow. Frqance, Russia and Britain will also play a part, in maintaining some semblance of counter-force to those who would de-stabilise the country.
