It takes 270 votes in the Electoral College to win the presidency and Hillary Clinton is well on her way to victory. Why? Because she is ahead in the traditional Democratic states from California to Minnesota to New Mexico ( whose Republican, female Hispanic Governor was insulted by Trump and with a large Hispanic population), to New Jersey to New York and all the polls are regularly showing that Trump has made no inroads. All she needs is to win in one of the toss-up states of Florida, Ohio or Pennsylvania or N. Carolina or Nevada or Iowa or even New Hampshire.
Polls have shown her with leads in Pennsylvania, considered to be a must for Trump, if he is to stand a chance. The task seem formidable, because even if Trump wins the traditional Republican states of the Deep South ( Alabama, Mississippi, S. Carolina, Louisiana etc.), and Alaska, Nebraska, Montana. N. Dakota, Kansas, Wyoming etc. he has to win all the toss up states, as well as at least one of the traditional Democratic state and that is not likely. The toss-up states, according to the polls are, Florida, New Hampshire, Iowa, Nevada ( strong Hispanic and African-American, with whom Trump is doing very poorly), Ohio and N. Carolina. So the electoral map strongly favor Clinton.
When you throw in all the people that Trump has insulted, from Mexicans/Hispanics ( calling them rapists, criminals, build the wall, deport 11million undocumented, insulting Hispanic judge and Governor, Muslims ( banning them, parents of dead soldier), veterans including McCain, leaders of the military, women, African Americans, physically disabled, praising Putin, saying that he will kill family of "terrorists", allow for the spread of nuclear weapons and so much more, it is clear that he is in deep trouble. His recent attempts to recast himself has not worked as he flip-flops and back tracks and flip flop again ( sowing confusion not only among the general electorate but his base supporters). Also, many former officials of previous Republican Administrations from Generals to Intelligence and Security officials are so disturbed about his hand on the "trigger" that they have endorsed Clinton. So too have many from the Republican party establishment including senators, governors, party workers etc. They question his anti-NATO, anti- Free Trade, pro-Putin stance as well as his foreign policy limitations and most importantly his temperament.
Clinton has been attacked for Benghazi, her e-mails, her health, her trustworthiness, the Clinton Foundation, her job performance as Sect. of State, but while it got some attention from the cable media, CNN and Fox, and from "talking heads" trying to sound important, she has still been able to maintain her lead. She has a large "war" chest, a huge on the ground staff,/ helpers, a new and larger plane for travel ( with the media horde aboard), a solid team ( Trump has fired 2 campaign managers and many staffers, some have left because they have not been paid or because they have been turned off by his continuing insults, trash talk), the strong support of President Obama, VP Biden, Bernie Sanders the DNC. and many high profile surrogates, both civilian and military and continues to raise millions for widespread advertisement. All in all a well oiled electoral machine.
So, it is evident that the path is clear for her to become the next president of the USA.
