Obama's spectacular trip and McCain's meltdown

Barack Obama's visits to Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, the West Bank and Germany, France and Britain were a masterpiece of competent organization and dignified and calm performance. He displayed clarity ( early withdrawal from Iraq, in which he received support from al- Maliki, much to the chagrin of the Bush Adm. ), resolve ( his very forthright meeting with Gen. Petraeus ), firmness ( his talk with Pres. Karzai ) , consistency ( his statements in Israel and West Bank ) , and serenity ( the way he handled himself amidst the adoration of tens of thousands in Germany ).

His campaign team and his supporters are rubbing their hands in glee. In the meantime McCain was left wringing his hands and pouting, unable to find something/anything to attack. He vainly tried to make an issue of Obama's not visiting wounded soldiers, saying it was because no cameras were allowed, but it fell flat. His
Intemperate personal attack on Obama (saying that “Senator Obama would rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign "), reveal the depth of his frustration and his inability to control his temper tantrums. Pres. Bush recent change of heart on Iran ( his decision to send a ranking diplomat to negotiate on nuclear issues and his wanting to establish a U.S. Interests Section in Teheran, not done since the hostage crisis ), would seem to support Obama's call for dialogue and left McCain's Mid-East saber rattling policy in total disarray. McCain's foreign expertise was his greatest claim to the presidency. Now this policy is seen as bellicose and brittle, inflexible and outdated. It was a bad two weeks and McCain seem to be fading. Don't be surprised if the nastiness begins to increase with great rapidity and viciousness. The Neo-Cons with whom he has surrounded himself are in no mood to play nice.

A very interesting turn of events, if McCain was smart he would draw attention away from the Iraq situation and bring the battle back to issues at home. By moping he is only highlighting Obama's success.

Hi Sir! Just would like to draw attention to this little tidbit I stumbled over.

Interestingly enough according to BBC news The White House has lifted its deficit forecast for 2009 to $482bn (£242bn) up from $407bn.The forecast figure excludes about $80bn of war costs.

Hi Hannah,
USA IS THE LARGEST DEBTOR NATION IN THE WORLD. THIS IS VERY DEBILITATING AND TROUBLESOME, NOT THE LEAST BECAUSE OF WHO MAY BE THEIR CREDITOR, ESPECIALLY THOSE OUTSIDE OF THE COUNTRY. THIS MAKE THE USA VULNERABLE TO UNDUE PRESSURE IN THEIR DECISIONS ON FOREIGN POLICY.
WE HAVE ALREADY SEEN BUSH CHANGE HIS POSITION ON IRAN ( TALKING) AND IRAQ(GRADUAL WITHDRAWAL).THIS IS GOOD BUT WHAT OTHER POLICIES WILL BE AFFECTED? THE INCOMING PRESIDENT WILL FIND AMERICA LIVING ON A CREDIT CARD AND HE WILL BE SEVERELY LIMITED. THE BUDGET DEFICIT WILL CONTINUE TO GROW AS LESS TAXES ARE COLLECTED AND THE IRAQ WAR AND AFGHANISTAN (WHICH COIST $ 1.5 BILLION A DAY) CONTINUE TO BLE3ED THE ECONOMY.
